Description
Formic Pro is a fast, easy-to-apply varroa treatment using formic acid.
It is sold in boxes of 2 and 10 does, each containing two strips per hive.
Separate the strips but DO NOTÂ remove the eco-paper wrap, which controls acid release.
Place two strips flat across the brood frames from opposite sides, covering most of the brood nest. Use two strips for both single and double brood; on double brood, place them on the top bars of the lower box. Remove all supers before treatment.
Apply only when temperatures are 10–29.5 °C, during three consecutive dry days, with good ventilation and the entrance fully open. Colonies should have at least 10,000 bees or six frames of brood.
Leave strips in the hive for 7 days, then remove before replacing supers. Most release occurs in the first 3–4 days. Temporary brood and bee loss may occur, including a short brood break. Increased egg laying is often seen by day 14. Check mite levels before and after treatment.
Galvanised metals may corrode from formic acid fumes.
Formic Pro has a 24-month shelf life.
